In addition, the Department provides basic instruction through a wide variety of activity courses for all students at the College.
Our Mission Statement
As its mission the Department of Physical Education seeks to provide enriching opportunities that enhance quality of life and links wellness, sport, intramurals, outdoor programming, and lifetime experiences for all CofI students. This can be accomplished through our activity courses, participation in sport, intramurals, and outdoor programs or by design from one of three majors: Physical Education, Sport and Fitness Management, and Exercise Science. The faculty in the department are committed to providing students with a diverse and broad educational foundation which focuses on an individualized plan that caters to students' individual strengths and interests and centers on their values, interests, experiences, and backgrounds. This is evident by the breadth and vision of our core curriculum whose aim is to prepare the student in a liberal arts setting for lifelong wellness, healthy choice selection, and an evaluation system that is ongoing . We are committed to providing all students with exercise avenues in a variety of ways.
