Yotes struggle at Concordia Golf Invitational

10.06.2009

Both The College of Idaho men's and women's golf teams struggled at their final fall tournament of the season, as the Lady Yotes finished fifth and the Coyote men tenth at the Concordia Invitational at Blue Heron Golf Club in Portland, Ore.

The women's team sat in fourth-place through yesterday's opening 36 holes (second-place among Cascade Conference teams), but a team score of 387 derailed the Lady Yote train, falling behind Northwest Christian in the final standings.  Leading the way for the Coyote women was Cecilia Garcia, who finished in a tie for ninth with a 246 (+30) - including a second-round 78, while Heidi Murphy took 19th with a 279 (+63).

The Coyote men had troubles throughout the tournament on the same track they shot a pair of team scores under 310 last month.  After a tough 330 in the opening round, the Yotes shot a quality 314 in yesterday's evening 18 - but ballooned to a final round 340, placing 10th out of 12 teams and fourth out of five CCC squads.  Jacob Reyes had the best performance for the Yotes - shooting a trio of 80s to place 32nd, while Kasey Allen, who had the Coyotes lowest round of the tournament with a 76, took 42nd with a 54-hole total of 244.
