Eight track athletes named NAIA Scholars

A total of eight College of Idaho men's and women's track and field members were honored today as recipient of the Daktronics NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete award, announced by the national office in Kansas City, Mo.

 

Men's runners Sam Hardy, Rand Kline, and Jude Penaflor were three of 208 male student-athletes to be honored at the conclusion of the NAIA National Championships for their efforts in the classroom.  Women's runners Molli Lee-Painter, Emily McCutchan, Courtney Mitchell, Jayne Saunders, and Chantel Varland were among the 322 female student-atheltes to earn the distinction.

 

To be eligible for the award, a recipient must be of at least junior academic status and maintain a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. 

 

For the year, the Coyotes have recorded 42 national scholar-athletes, with honorees in baseball yet to be released.
