About the Neilsen Foundation

The College of Idaho’s Neilsen Lecture Series in Judaic Studies welcomes Dr. Jacob Flaws, Assistant Professor of History at Kean University, for a lecture titled “Spaces of Treblinka: Retracing a Death Camp.” The event will take place Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 12:15 p.m. in CMLI B01.

Dr. Flaws’ talk draws from his ongoing research, which uses testimonies, oral histories, and recollections from Jewish, German, and Polish witnesses to present a holistic understanding of the Treblinka death camp. His work challenges the misconception that Treblinka was an isolated site, instead revealing how its presence was deeply intertwined with surrounding communities.

Sponsored by the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation and organized by Dr. Nick Underwood, Assistant Professor of History and Chair of Judaic Studies, the Neilsen Lecture Series brings distinguished scholars to campus each year to explore Jewish history, culture, and contemporary issues.
