Faculty Spotlight

Dr. Cheryl Schonhardt-Bailey, an Idaho native, earned her B.A. in political science from BSU and her M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from UCLA. She is a Fellow of the British Academy and served from 2019-2022 as Head of the Government Department at the London School of Economics. She is the author of several books and articles on trade policy, U.S. national security and pending work addressing Idaho wilderness land.
Dr. Cheryl Schonhardt-Bailey B.A. in Political Science from Boise State University; M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from University of California, Los Angeles. Graham Wallas Professor of Political Science and Fellow of the British Academy at the London School of Economics.

Dr. Cameron Arnzen is a Yote alum, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2017. He earned a Ph.D. in Politics & Education from Columbia University and an M.A. from Duke University. Dr. Arnzen specializes in governance structures in education and the relationship between education and democratic engagement. Dr. Arnzen teaches American politics, public policy, federalism, and quantitative research methods.

Professor McKay Cunningham teaches a variety of law and policy courses and earned his B.A. and J.D. from Baylor University, where he was managing editor of the Baylor Law Review. He has published 12 law review articles and one monograph focusing on government, gerrymandering, and constitutional law. He is a regular commentator for NPR and PBS and frequently testifies before the California Idaho Legislatures.

Professor Jodi Nafzger teaches law and ethics and oversees Title IX and Title VI compliance and accessibility services at The College of Idaho. A former prosecutor specializing in domestic violence, she serves as a legal advisor to local police. Nafzger is active in the Idaho State Bar and on the board for JEMfriends, a nonprofit for youth aging out of foster care. She earned her J.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

John Michael Schert, a former dancer with American Ballet Theatre, is an entrepreneur and founder of a creative leadership consultancy. Schert is a former Eisenhower Fellow and has received awards from Boise Young Professionals and the Idaho Business Review. Schert’s work focuses on unlocking leadership pathways across various sectors, drawing on his multidisciplinary training at Harvard and University of Chicago.

Dr. Stelios Panageotou’s research explores political economy and Critical Theory. His work examines the intersection of capitalist economies and democratic systems. He has published on Greece’s financial crisis and corporate political power. Dr. Panageotou holds a PhD from the University of Tennessee and has contributed to The SAGE Handbook of Political Sociology and Logos: A Journal of Modern Society and Culture.
