Respond to the needs of our communities, make a difference in civic life and enter into mutually beneficial partnerships with community organizations through the College’s Community Engagement & Collaboration program. Whether you participate in a one-time project or a long-term partnership, we offer many opportunities to address community needs and improve civic life.
From a day of service for MLK Day or mentoring elementary school children; to researching the housing crisis in Idaho or publishing stories with the Idaho State Historical Society; to addressing a community-identified problem through courses such as The Prison Experience, Community Psychology, Schools & Society and Community Health – there is so much to discover and so many ways to deepen the practice of community partnership, deliberative democracy and civic engagement.
A Meaningful Summer Experience
Each summer, College faculty and students partner with the Wood River YMCA to bolster educational outcomes for children in Idaho’s Wood River Valley. Despite being a popular recreational, tourist-heavy destination, many families struggle economically, often resulting in their children falling behind their peers academically.
Celebrating Research, Scholarship & Creative Work
Each year, we celebrate our students creativity, curiosity and perseverance through a Student Research Conference (SRC), where students from a range of disciplines share their scholarly and creative accomplishments through research posters and talks, creative performances and roundtables.
Your innovative spirit has propelled you this far. What’s next? That’s for you to dream, make, live and unleash at The College of Idaho. Come see what awaits you here.
