In order for students to successfully navigate their educational experience, it is often necessary to access basic needs resources along the lines of food security, housing, financial support, safety and security, health and wellness, and academic assistance.
If you have questions that are not answered here, please visit Student Life in McCain Student Center.

Resources
Chosen Name, Preferred Pronoun, and Gender Identity
Entering a Chosen Name is for students, faculty, and staff who have chosen a name that they intend to use in all interactions and correspondence (including mail to their campus box and home) rather than their legal name. This is different from your nickname. The chosen name will appear on class rosters, in advising records, and in other areas that are viewable to College faculty, staff and students. Please do not use special characters such as ^,~, `, or /'s.
To change your Chosen Name, Preferred Pronoun, and/or Gender Identity: Self Service, User Options, User Profile, Edit Personal Identity.
Email Address
Your legal name was used to create your College-issued email address, so submitting a chosen name will not change the college-issued email address. To have your email address changed, please submit the email request form. Your email address name will be changed at the completion of the current semester. If your name fails to update somewhere please contact [email protected] for assistance.

Student ID Cards
Students who have opted to use a preferred name in Self-Service or who have legally changed their name can receive a replacement ID card at no cost. The student’s preferred first name will be printed on the front of their campus ID card.
College of Idaho photo ID cards are issued for College business only and should not be considered government-issued identification for purposes such as air travel.
Residence Life
Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH) offers students a room environment that is welcoming to all gender identities, not one that is limited by the traditional gender binary. Gender-inclusive housing is offered in any hall and is coordinated on an individual basis. This is a voluntary option. More information can be found on the Gender Inclusive Housing Application Form or contact Residence Life.
