In addition to his presidential role with the ISO, Mahlangu is a Counsel for Diversity and Inclusion representative, a Peer Health Advocate, a member of the Africans, Friends, Relatives and Others (AFRO) club and the Gaming club.

The Lecture Series and the Chair of Judaic Studies are both unique to the College thanks to the Neilsen Foundation. The College of Idaho is the only institute of higher learning in the Intermountain West to have an endowed chair for Judaic Studies.
His work was initially to be featured in the gallery in 2020 but, due to restrictions during the COVID pandemic, the showcase didn’t happen. In fact, the entire gallery was closed until October 2023, when the gallery re-opened.
