C of I Students Shine at Murdock College Science Research Conference

Twenty-five members of The College of Idaho community traveled to Vancouver, Washington, on November 7–8 to participate in the annual Murdock College Science Research Conference, a leading regional event showcasing undergraduate scientific research. Every C of I student in attendance presented the results of their summer research projects, reflecting the College’s strong commitment to hands-on, inquiry-based learning.

Students Emma Redman and Lila Jamieson delivered oral presentations, while an additional 17 students presented research posters, sharing their work with faculty, peers, and scientists from across the Pacific Northwest. The conference provided an opportunity for students to engage in professional scientific dialogue, gain experience presenting research, and connect with researchers from other institutions.

The C of I delegation included faculty mentors and staff who supported students throughout their research journeys: Caroline Bell (Grants), Katie Devine (Physics Professor), Chris Walser (Biology Professor), Melissa Pickett (Biology Assistant Professor), Wendy Harvey (Biology Instructor), and David Douglass (President).

Student participants included: Ronish Acharya, Bhabishya Poudel, Mia Petrisevac, Annabel Edmonds, Anna Himler, Harrison Pardue, Emma Redman, Gracie Castillo, Katelynn McCauley, Lilly DeVore, Cade Wyman, Elizabeth Jamieson, Abdullah Korra, Kaiya Pardue, Josh Uriu, Ellen Midgley, Tracy Jacquet, Clara Davis, and Jordan Steele.

The College celebrates the accomplishments of these students and the faculty who guide them, recognizing their work as a testament to the strength of the College’s undergraduate research programs.
