The Finance (BS) major provides an understanding of financial markets, investment analysis, and corporate finance principles. Coursework covers essential topics like risk management, financial modeling, portfolio analysis, and capital budgeting. Through hands-on projects and an internship, students gain practical skills in quantitative analysis and strategic financial decision-making.
The program emphasizes ethical financial practices and adaptability, preparing graduates for diverse careers in areas such as investment banking, corporate finance, wealth management, and financial consulting. This major equips students with the expertise needed to thrive in today’s dynamic financial landscape.
While at the College, Jackson Nassir ’25, a double major in art and business administration, created a three-story art installation in Cruzen-Murray Library, exploring how the things on this earth are filled with life, and how they interact with unliving elements. His piece takes viewers on a journey, symbolizing the release of the soul – a beautiful death.
“Our study abroad trip wasn’t just about lectures and assignments,” says Dr. Andrew Ellestad (Business & Accounting). “It was about students bargaining in local markets, chatting with business owners over bubble tea, and finding their way through bustling streets together. Our students grew from hesitant travelers to confident global explorers who could navigate subway systems and cultural differences with equal ease.”
I chose The College of Idaho due to its innovative curriculum, which allowed me to personalize my course of study. Additionally, the College provides great mentorship opportunities through the major programs. My major advisors contributed to my academic experience by getting to know me personally and assisting me with internships and other opportunities outside of the classroom.

I chose to be a Yote because of the close campus culture and spirit that I felt on my initial campus visit and still feel as a senior at the College. Students support each other in their extracurricular activities and make the College a fun experience for anyone who chooses to attend. One of my favorite experiences is Homecoming weekend. Getting to meet former Yotes and make new friends is something I look forward to each year.

I knew coming to the College would offer me a leg up in both my academics as well as social networking. CofI has seats in many businesses in downtown Boise that are saved specifically for students who graduate from the College. On top of that, I knew I would be establishing close relationships with my professors, mentors and College leadership. Having access to these relationships has opened a whole other world in launching my career.

As a college, our “Yote” culture is part of our identity early on in our undergraduate career, building experiences that I take with me for the rest of my life. More specifically, my journey as a member, leader and captain of the Yote football program has provided me with lifelong friendships and the opportunity to pursue my dreams of playing professional football following graduation.
