Each summer, College faculty and students partner with the Wood River YMCA to bolster educational outcomes for children in Idaho’s Wood River Valley. Despite being a popular recreational, tourist-heavy destination, many families struggle economically, often resulting in their children falling behind their peers academically.
Dr. Jennie Daniels (Spanish) recently published her first book, which examines four different historical novels from Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, and Chile. I chose The College of Idaho because of its prestigious academics and the opportunity that it provided for me to play football. I am extremely grateful for the scholarship that made this school a possibility for me and my family as it allowed me to be a part of such an amazing place. Scholarships are greatly important as they enable the College to continue to bring in the best future Yotes year after year from, quite literally, all over the world.
B.A in Business Administration and Computer Science and a minor in Spanish.
I chose The College of Idaho because I was looking for a college with a tight-knit community that genuinely cares about its students. The College’s unique curriculum really stood out to me as well. I have so many interests and didn’t want to focus on just one area of study. Though club involvement, I’ve grown professionally, while also forming amazing connections that feel like family. This experience has truly made my time here a holistic peak point in my life.
B.A. in Computer Science with minors in Psychology and Spanish.
As a college, our “Yote” culture is part of our identity early on in our undergraduate career, building experiences that I take with me for the rest of my life. More specifically, my journey as a member, leader and captain of the Yote football program has provided me with lifelong friendships and the opportunity to pursue my dreams of playing professional football following graduation.
B.A. in Business Administration with minors in Spanish and Natural Sciences, a specialization in Finance and a graduate certificate in Sport Administration.
The moment I laid eyes on the College campus for a tour, I knew this was where I was going to be spending the next four years. I like the intimate campus community and the student-to-teacher ratio. It felt like a place I could call home. Plus, I chose The College of Idaho because of its flexible curriculum, allowing me to double major, and its excellent financial aid, making college a reality for me without any debt.
B.A. in Psychology and Spanish with a minor in Human Biology.
I hope that honestly people from Idaho learn not to count themselves out. Because I think I counted myself out for a long time. I want people to know that amazing people are cultivated everywhere, all the time, and it has nothing to do with the prestige of an environment, but with the intent of the people in the environment. And that can certainly be possible in Idaho. And that has certainly been possible for me.
B.A. in Political Economy with minors in Anthropology/Sociology, Environmental Science, Pre-Law and Spanish. The College’s 8th Rhodes Scholar.
