Many donors ask The College of Idaho to decide the best use of their gift — these are unrestricted gifts that we call the Boone Fund, our annual fund. The unrestricted designation allows the College to allocate these funds to the most pressing needs of the institution. Gifts are used for scholarships, student programs, maintenance of the campus and facilities, and more. Current students rely on the Boone Fund to enable and enhance their education.
Other donors direct how they would like their gifts to be used, such as for endowed scholarships, faculty chairs, student programs, or new or renovated facilities. A few ways to direct your giving are outlined below. Contact us to discuss your giving ideas – we’d love to hear from you!
The College of Idaho’s endowment remains the foundation of the institution, and we are consistently working hard to grow the College’s endowment to new heights. We offer many opportunities to create a unique endowment gift at the College, such as endowing an academic or athletic program, student scholarship, technical support and more.
Scholarships allow students the opportunity to come to The College of Idaho at an affordable price. Thanks to many generous donors, The College of Idaho is proud to have over 140 endowed scholarships that are offered to students every year. Every scholarship that is awarded makes a huge difference for the future of our students. We currently offer donors an opportunity to contribute to an endowed scholarship ($25,000+) and current-use scholarships at varying levels.
Each year, the College takes on various capital projects to enhance our campus and facilities. Most recently we completed the Cruzen-Murray Library along with upgrading Wolfe Field and Finney Hall.
The College of Idaho's Crowdfunding site is designed to help the school take on smaller projects with the help of smaller donations from a large number (a "crowd," so to speak) of donors. The first Crowdfunding project the College undertook was to fund the repair of the Clocktower in the Morrison Quad on campus and, with the help of many generous supporters, the goal was met well before the deadline.
The Coyote Athletic Association allows our student-athletes to thrive. All funds contributed to the CAA help cover the cost of running athletics programs, allowing for future generations of Yotes to continue competing. For more information, contact Reagan Rossi.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, The College of Idaho announced the formation of the Mike Shines Endowment. Mike, who passed away in 2023, was the long-time Director of the Aquatic Center and Strength Coach, but was much more than that.
One of the moments that stands out the most was when my admission counselor called me and told me I was awarded additional scholarships. I was already accepted into the school and I was given merit and other scholarships, but the only thing holding me back was still money. Before this moment I did not know if I would actually attend due to financial circumstances. This was the moment that I realized that I could attend my number one school because of these scholarships.

The community of the College is truly something special. From the students to the professors and faculty, it feels like everyone around the College is so welcoming and caring about you and your well-being and success. The College also offered the ability to achieve my dream of playing collegiate athletics and studying math and physics – the best of both worlds.

I chose The College of Idaho because of its tight-knit community. I always wanted to study in a college where I could know my professors and have face-to-face interactions with my peers. I recall my first phone call with my admissions counselor. Despite the fact that I was on a Zoom call in China, he introduced me to classmates and took me around campus with his phone. It was a life-changing experience as I made the decision to enter this prominent institute.

The College of Idaho drew my interest for the unique opportunity to double major with three minors while being able to compete on both the soccer and softball teams. When I came on my first visit to the College, I felt so comfortable in the atmosphere on campus. Despite living only 10 minutes away at the time, I felt like the College was its own community full of new experiences.

After being accepted to The College of Idaho and touring the campus, I felt as though I had connected with the faculty and others in as little as a few hours compared to my weekend-long tours at other universities. My mom told me that when I spoke about CofI, I lit up in a way that led her to believe that this was the place that I needed to be.

The College of Idaho grabbed my attention when I was first looking to transfer from a large university. I knew that when I came to visit and walked around campus it felt like where I needed to be. I was able to meet the presidents of the College and they were down to earth and willing to talk to us about anything. Not long after the visit, I knew I was going to become a Yote.
