The College of Idaho will extend its deposit deadline for incoming students enrolling for Fall 2024 from May 1 to June 1.

Many schools, including The College of Idaho, have been working through delays regarding the restructured Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The U.S. Department of Education had already delayed the launch of its reorganized FAFSA form by three months and recently found a calculation error on hundreds of thousands of FAFSA applications, causing even more delays. The FAFSA schedule setbacks are causing students to wait even longer for their financial aid information. Due to the ongoing FAFSA postponements, the College decided to extend its deposit deadline by a month to June 1.

“We recognize that the FAFSA delays from the past three months have been challenging for prospective students and their families,” said Vice President of Enrollment Management Brian Bava. “In particular, the recent announcement by the Department of Education that students won’t be able to make corrections or updates to their FAFSA until the first part of April compelled the College to extend its enrollment deposit deadline, providing students with a bit more time to make their decision.”

“Our Financial Aid team is working quickly to process those FAFSA forms that have been received, and prospective students should expect updates to their student portals by April 15,” Bava said. “In the meantime, we encourage all students who have questions about their pending financial aid to reach out to their admission counselor for assistance. We look forward to welcoming the next pack of Yotes in August.”

To encourage early submission of the FAFSA form, the College is offering a $1,000 grant to students who complete their submission by May 1.

For those families needing help submitting their FAFSA materials to the College, please contact the College’s Student Financial Aid Services at [email protected] or (208) 459-5380.
