The College of Idaho Introduces Master of Applied Public Policy (MAPP) Program – A Bespoke Degree for Change-Makers
CALDWELL, Idaho — In an era of rapid political and societal change, The College of Idaho is introducing a new graduate program designed for those ready to engage, lead, and drive impact. The Master of Applied Public Policy (MAPP) is a one-of-a-kind program tailored for professionals who want to influence real policy decisions and apply them in real-world situations in Idaho and the Intermountain West.
“For the first time in our 134-year history, The College of Idaho is offering a Master of Applied Public Policy,” said McKay Cunningham, Program Director of MAPP at The College of Idaho. “This isn’t a generic public policy degree. It’s built for those who want to tackle today’s policy challenges—right here, right now.”
The MAPP program is designed for working professionals. Its hybrid structure and curriculum are rooted in the real-world issues shaping our communities. Students will learn from and connect with former governors, current legislators, lobbyists, nonprofit leaders, and executives from Idaho’s largest for-profit companies because public policy isn’t just for politicians; it affects us all.
Key Features of the MAPP Program:
- Applied Learning: Students engage in case studies, policy simulations, and internships focused on current issues in Idaho and beyond.
- Tailored for the West: The program addresses the policy landscape of Idaho and the Intermountain West, from education reform to economic development.
- Designed for Working Professionals: Hybrid with a once-a-week in-person class format, MAPP is flexible and accessible.
- A Powerful Network: Students join a cohort of peers from diverse industries and gain access to influential leaders shaping policy today.
“We live in a time where many feel disengaged, overwhelmed, or even hopeless about affecting change,” said McKay Cunningham. “But turning away isn’t the only option. The MAPP program is an opportunity to lean in, level up, and make an impact.”
