- C of I has spent the summer hosting several Community Learning events on campus, including the College of Idaho Cello Festival, a six day camp for cello players of all skill levels to learn under professional musicians. - Coyote Athletics Roundup: C of I’s athletic communications office had an impressive showing in the NAIA-SIDA Publications and Media Contest, earning 14 Top-10 finishes and two “Best in the NAIA” awards, including the No. 1 Publicity Video of the Year and the No. 1 Season Preview/Review in the annual Dr. Jack W. Bell Writing Contest. Well done!...Tickets are now available for the upcoming football season. There will be five home games in 2018, starting on Sept. 1…The 2018-19 men’s basketball schedule has been released, including six non-conference home games and the earliest starting date in the program’s history. Check out the full schedule here!...The C of I softball team will be holding a pitching clinic for beginning and intermediate pitchers ages 8-14 on July 17. Check all the details here!...Maddy Kelly was honored as a second-team selection to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America College Division Women’s At-Large Team, the second women’s swimmer to earn the award in the program’s history. Claire Otero also received second-team selection honors to the Women’s Track and Field Team, becoming the fourth women’s track and field to earn the honor.
- Faculty and Staff Notes: Orma J. Smith Museum of Natural History Director Bill Clark ‘67 and his wife, Mary ‘68, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The two were married in the Jewett Chapel, where Dr. Sylvia Hunt played piano during the ceremony. Congratulations, Clarks!
- Alumni News and Notes: Weiser mayor and C of I graduate Dianna Thomas was honored with the Harold Hurst Award for her outstanding contributions to the Association of Idaho Cities (AIC) at the 71st annual AIC conference in Boise on June 21. Thomas has served two terms as Weiser’s mayor, with her leadership instrumental in passing a revenue bond in 2012 with 74-percent voter approval for improvements to the city’s wastewater system.
