- Coyote Athletics Roundup: The Cascade Collegiate Conference championship games will be carried live on Root Sports, with the women’s championship at 7 p.m. PST on Monday, Feb. 26 and the men’s game at 7 p.m. PST on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The top eight teams of the conference for both the men and the women will advance to the tournament. The tournament champions will receive automatic entry into the NAIA National Championships between March 7-13. The winners of the regular season title will also receive entry…Men’s basketball fell to Portland Bible to close 2017, but entered the new year with emphatic victories against Northwest University and The Evergreen State College. They face off against No. 16 Warner Pacific on Jan. 12 to battle for the top of the CCC rankings…The Lady Yotes basketball team continues working towards wins, but fell to Northwest University and Evergreen State in close battles…Women’s tennis released its 2018 schedule, revealing they will play two contests within the Treasure Valley at Boise State University at against Treasure Valley CC.
- The Helmet Tracker Helmet Bowl has come to an end, and although the Yote Helmet didn’t make it all the way to the end, it still finished in a very respectable Quarterfinal bout against eventual runners-up the San Diego State Aztecs, finishing less than 100 votes behind. Not bad for the last remaining NAIA representative, right YoteFam?
- We would like to offer our formal congratulations to our friends, the Gallaudet University Bison, for their well-deserved championship! We’ll be back for Helmet Bowl II next fall.
- Alumni News and Notes: A number of alumni of the Rotary Club of Boise worked together to produce a book celebrating the first century of the club’s service, which is now available. Marcia Wing ’76 was the project chair, Ken Howell ’81 served as its copy editor and proof reader, and Hanna Fischer ’15 provided design and layout.
- Donald G. Mathews ’54 has published a new book, At the Altar of Lynching: Burning Sam Hose in the American South. It is now available in paperback, hardcover and Kindle on Amazon.com.
- Jessica Barnes ’11 was named Employee of the Year for the City of Blackfoot, honored for her work as the city’s laboratory manager of its wastewater treatment facility. Congratulations, Jessica!.
- Deven Shaff ’04 was elected to the Broomfield City Council and has officially started his term.
- Billie Farley ‘73 participated in the Nampa Christmas Bird Count on Dec. 23 at the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge as a member of the Southwestern Idaho Birders Association.
- Anna Eberlin ’02 was elected to the position of partner at her Boise based law firm Holland and Hart. It’s been a great 2018 for Anna already, as she was also named one of Idaho Business Review’s Women of the Year. Well done, Anna!
- Sandy Tilcock and her business Lone Goose Press were featured in The Register-Guard, highlighting her unique path into the business of literary fine press printing, which she began in 1989.
- Meriwether Cider co-founders, sisters and C of I alumni Molly and Kate Leadbetter will be opening a new cider room in Downtown Boise this spring, having outgrown their space in Garden City. We can’t wait to visit!
