My path to academia has been shaped by more than 16 years of clinical practice as a physical therapist. As a clinician, I specialize in working with patients who have chronic neurologic and chronic pain conditions. Working closely with patients through some of their most challenging life experiences has reinforced the importance of pairing scientific knowledge with compassion, critical thinking, and effective communication. These experiences continue to influence my teaching and fuel my passion for helping students connect theory to practice, whether they are exploring the role of nutrition in health, strategies for injury prevention, or the application of exercise in clinical settings.

As an educator, I believe true understanding comes through application. Watching an expert solve a problem can be helpful, but meaningful learning occurs when students actively engage with concepts and work through challenges themselves. My goal is to create a learning environment that is both supportive and challenging, encouraging students to take ownership of their education while developing confidence in their abilities. Ultimately, I strive to prepare evidence-based healthcare professionals who are equipped to improve the health and well-being of the individuals and communities they serve.
