The Parent Council would like to welcome new and returning students and their families to The College of Idaho. The Parent Council is made up of parents of past and present students, and some are even alumni of The College. There is a combination of local parents as well as out-of-town parents. Council members have kids with different areas of interest and are involved in many different activities at The College. The Parent Council is available to answer any questions or alleviate any concerns that parents or families might have about sending their child to college. Based on our own experiences, we can offer feedback based on what worked, what did not, and things we wish we would have known. Parents have insight on a range of areas, including dorm needs, campus safety, or even where to get a car fixed.  We also help bridge communication between administration and families. We hope to make the transition to college seamless for your student and your family. We know that both students and families will enjoy their time at The College of Idaho. Academic Affairs

Academic Affairs Home / Academic Affairs The Office of Academic Affairs coordinates all academic programs offered at the College. It is committed to creating structures and processes that allow faculty, staff, and students to thrive in a manner in which we, together, can accomplish the College’s mission. Through collaborative efforts, the Dean of the Undergraduate College and the Dean of Graduate Studies help our undergraduate and graduate programs focus on student learning and success. These offices are devoted to ensuring student academics are a properly managed priority on a campus that truly values academic rigor. Additionally, the Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for institutional accreditation and accountability. It works to ensure positive learning and working environments, recruiting and maintaining top-quality faculty, and managing academic appointments, tenure and promotion. Review Handbook Faculty Grant Resources At the center of the College’s mission is the concept of the teacher-scholar — a gifted, dedicated teacher whose work in the classroom is enhanced by deep professional training and an ongoing commitment to scholarship. The College believes that faculty growth, development and research requires continuous investment and therefore has established a fund to spur research by reinvesting recovered indirect costs. This fund supports summer grant-writing stipends, sabbatical research, student-faculty collaboration, and other scholarly activities. Grant Approval Process If your grant proposal (or preproposal) requires the College to commit to or support the work in any way, the proposal requires approval before it can be submitted. Examples of College commitment include signature by an authorized organizational representative or other official, funds administered by the College, commitment of time and effort (yours or students’ or employees’), equipment (including computers) or space, development of a course, College matching funds or in-kind contributions, and other conditions. Internal routing forms for authorization and submission of proposals and other supporting documents are available below.  The main areas of emphasis include effort reporting, responsible conduct of research (RCR), financial conflict of interest (FCOI) for federally funded research, government notices concerning research policies and grants, and general information about the College for grant applications. The forms needed for grant approval and submission and the signatures that are required vary from grant to grant. In general, all grants require review by the Grants Office and VP-level approvals and institutional grants also require approval by the President.  Please note that all institutional data included in grant applications must be approved or generated by the College’s Office of Institutional Research. Student Handbook

Student Affairs Home / Student Handbook From the Dean of Students Dear Student, The Student Code of Conduct as outlined in this Student Handbook provides information about The College of Idaho’s policies regarding student behavior, as well as resources available to students. We hope the policies contained in this Handbook provide you with a general understanding of your rights and responsibilities as a member of the College community, as well as of the departments, services, facilities, and other resources available to you. Additional information about academic programs and requirements can be found in The College of Idaho Catalog. We encourage you to fully read the Student Handbook and to utilize the many resources available to you at The College of Idaho. We expect all students to maintain standards of personal conduct that are in harmony with the educational ideals of the institution and to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the College. We also encourage you to take advantage of the co-curricular learning opportunities available on campus through residence life, student activities, student government, athletics, campus ministry, and community service, to name a few. The policies and procedures located in the Student Handbook are subject to revision at any time with little or no advance notification, however, every attempt is made to adhere to the policies as outlined in this Student Code of Conduct at the beginning of the academic year. To the degree possible, substantive changes will only be made between academic years. Students are held accountable to the Student Handbook policies that are in place at the time an incident is officially reported to a non-confidential source. If you have any questions about the contents of this Handbook or suggestions on how to improve it, please feel free to contact me via email or phone.
