C of I Professor Aaron Weiss Performs Duet with GRAMMY-Winning Artist Lucy Dacus

College of Idaho students often discover that their professors bring remarkable real-world experiences into the classroom. This fall, Anthropology Professor Dr. Aaron Weiss shared one of those moments on a much bigger stage—performing a live duet with acclaimed singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus, a member of the GRAMMY-winning band boygenius.

Weiss joined Dacus onstage at the Morrison Center in Boise, delivering a surprise performance that delighted the crowd. The collaboration drew even more attention when Dacus—known for her soulful lyrics, dedicated fanbase, and over 700,000 followers on her personal Instagram—posted about the duet on social media. The band’s main Instagram account, boasting roughly one million followers, also spotlighted the moment.

For Weiss, the performance was not only a personal milestone but also a reflection of the creativity, curiosity, and community engagement he encourages in his classes at The College of Idaho.

The duet showcases the diverse talents found across the College’s faculty—something prospective students often cite as a defining strength of the C of I experience. Whether in anthropology, the arts, science, or the humanities, students learn from professors who are active in their fields and passionate about bringing those experiences back to campus.
