CofI's Reagan Rossi recognized as AC Boise Community Impact Star - KTVB Channel 7 Interview

The following story is excerpted from KTVB Channel 7’s Idaho Today. It highlights The College of Idaho’s Reagan Rossi and her recognition as an AC Boise Community Impact Star.

Reagan Rossi is being honored by AC Boise for more than 30 years of mentorship and leadership in college athletics.

AC Boise is recognizing people making a difference in the community through its Community Impact STAR program, and this week’s honoree is College of Idaho Vice President of Athletics, Reagan Rossi.

Reagan has spent more than 30 years at the College of Idaho, first as a coach and now in athletics leadership. She says the people and the opportunity to make a difference are what have kept her coming back year after year.

For Reagan, the goal of college athletics goes beyond winning games. She wants student-athletes to become good people, strong leaders and active members of their communities.

That philosophy shows up in the programs and activities her athletes take part in, including community outreach, volunteering, and visits to local elementary schools.

She says those experiences create a ripple effect. When student-athletes give back to the community, they often see more frequents wins. Additionally, the support that they give comes back to them, creating what she describes as a domino effect.

She has also seen college sports change significantly throughout her career, including greater opportunities and visibility for women’s athletics.

And while winning still matters, Reagan says the lessons student-athletes learn through sports, including teamwork, accountability, communication and resilience, can be just as important as what happens on the scoreboard.

Reagan will be honored as an AC Boise Community Impact STAR at the club’s next home match, Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. against Charlotte Independence.
