Health Insurance & Immunizations

Health Insurance Policy

The College of Idaho requires all full-time students to have health insurance. A fee for student health insurance is included in fees collected by the Business Office unless the student can show proof of comparable, ACA-compliant coverage through their parent’s policy, a spouse’s coverage, or through employment.  Student health insurance information for the 2025-2026 academic year is available at https://studentcenter.uhcsr.com/.

To be eligible to waive the school-sponsored health insurance plan, your individual private plan:

  • Must be provided by a company licensed to do business in the United States, with a U.S. claims payment office and a U.S. phone number
  • Must be valid for services rendered in the State of Idaho
  • Must be affordable care act (ACA) compliant
  • Must be active and maintained for health insurance coverage from August 15, 2025 through August 14, 2026.
  • Must provide coverage for prescription drugs
  • If you are a student-athlete, your plan must not be one of the following:
    • Kaiser or similar out-of-state HMO
    • Out-of-state Medicaid plan
    • Medishare plan
    • Health Sharing plan
    • International insurance plan

The deadline for students enrolled for Fall 2025 who have individual primary coverage through a qualifying source is September 10, 2025. For new and transfer students joining the College in the spring of 2026, a separate waiver period will begin in December 2025. An e-mail will be sent to all full-time students' Yotes account once the waiver portal is available.

The College of Idaho’s student health insurance provider will be offering a separate voluntary plan that interested students can voluntarily purchase at their own expense.  Once information is available, it will be provided via an email to all student’s Yotes account.

Immunization Policy

The College of Idaho believes it is in the best interests of the campus community for every student to be vaccinated appropriately. Listed below are the immunizations required of all students for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Students must provide all immunization documentation before arriving on campus for classes, moving into residence halls, or participating in any official College function. (Note: if you are unable to meet this timeline due to extenuating circumstances, please contact the Director of the Wellness Center Director or the Dean of Students to discuss alternative arrangements).

Students who have an incomplete immunization record as of the 10th day of classes will have a hold placed on their account and will not be able to register for the following semester. In addition, students with incomplete records may be removed from the residence halls and/or in-person courses until all requirements are met (no refunds available). Students participating in intercollegiate sports who have incomplete immunization records will not be allowed to practice or complete until they are compliant with the College’s Immunization Policy.

The College of Idaho believes it is in the best interests of the campus community when every student is immunized (population immunity). The College, however, will recognize requests for exemption to vaccines; in such instances, the Exemption Request Form must be submitted to the Wellness Center before arriving on campus for classes, moving into residence halls, or participating in any official College function. Students who do not have an approved exemption and still have an incomplete immunization record as of the 10th day of classes will have a hold placed on their account and may be removed from the residence halls (no refunds available) until all requirements are met. Students participating in intercollegiate sports who have incomplete immunization records and do not have an exemption on file will not be allowed to practice or compete until they are compliant with the College's immunization policy. Should an outbreak occur on campus, students with exemptions or incomplete immunization records (including recommended immunizations) may be asked to begin regular testing at their own expense, restricted from attending classes or other College activities, and/or removed from the residence halls until there is no further immediate risk to the student (no refunds available).

All international and exchange students coming from or returning from these countries must receive a TB testing done:

Students with a history of BCG vaccination are not excluded from tuberculin testing.

If the skin test is positive, a Chest X-ray, evaluation for needed treatment, and MD clearance for activities are required.
